You will be aware that our former venue - the Five Rivers Leisure Centre - at Salisbury has been undergoing major building work for over 12 months and resulted in the 2015 show being held at Andover.
Unfortunately the new building and facilities offered are no longer suitable for a major two day show.
Over the past six months, after we were made aware of the changes, we embarked on a very long and difficult journey to find a new venue. We needed a venue that could either match or exceed the facilities offered at Salisbury.
We looked in Wiltshire, Hampshire, West Berkshire, Surrey and West Sussex. We contacted or reviewed over 80 leisure centres; as we needed a Friday and Saturday we ruled out all academic institutions (no car park availability on Fridays). We also contacted two racecourses, and various exhibition centres. We travelled over 1000 miles to visit possible locations and eventually we found the ideal home -
This superb centre offers the following
* Fine modern building with super natural and artificial lighting
* Very easy access by road via the M3 or rail
* Two large on site car parks
* Excellent reasonably priced catering
* Densely populated area
* One level enabling wheelchair access
* Shopping centre adjacent
* Asda supermarket opposite
For the visitor we can offer
* Chairs at EVERY table
* One level throughout enabling easy wheelchair access
* Free Entry
* Free Raffle
* Free programme
* To be opened by a celebrity in aid of Childline
Obviously, now we are not at Salisbury then we cannot call our event the The Salisbury Stamp Show any more. Our new hosts have informed us that we will be able to use this venue every year from now on, so we have decided to rename the show after the area covered and not by the town where it is held.
A new dedicated web site is now under construction, so come back and a link, with further information, will be available here.
